Recipient of the 2019 Schmitt Prize: Rose Royal

Rose Royal, department assistant for maintenance management, is recognized her for her work in helping fix workplace problems such as broken heaters and water leaks—triaging complaints and scheduling needed repairs "with a smile and a great attitude every day."

In nominating her for this honor, her colleagues described her as the heart of the service center and consider her institutional knowledge and commitment to making Caltech a better place "invaluable."
